Default Great Website Idea, But No Business Background

Hello Everyone. I am new on this site, because I have a situation.
I have thought of a great idea for a website. Its not going to be as big as Facebook or Youtube, but it could generate substantial amount of revenue. I have no background in business, or computer science. This website involves users, somewhat like a social network, but they connect differently. Also its for musicians.

Anyways, I want to build this website, and I have no idea where to begin. My friend and I are in this together and we need someone to show us where to begin.

If anyone can help us out on creating this website and turn it into a business that would be amazing, just someone to get us off our feet.

For example: Mark Zuckerburg designed Facebook, and his friend did the business work. Well I have the idea, I guess I would need a designer and a lot of business work.

If anyone could help that would be great!

Thank You
-Anthony C.

Hey Anthony.

That is a pretty tall order you are asking. I wish you luck in finding the partners you seek. The people here will offer their free opinions and advice to help get you started.

You will probably need to be persistent with your search on this website and others like in order to find someone suitable.

I would suggest go for it. Some day you will definitely get success. haven't you heard about Twitter? People used to think, it's the most worst idea ever. See it now... it's one of the top 10 site in the world. Go for it.

Hi

From my experience, your project could go many different ways and many things could go wrong. Partners may prove unreliable, they may take your idea without your permission, you may not have the resources to handle it and of course, it may not be as good an idea as you think it is. No offense intended, but that's reality.

The first thing I would do is get legal advice to protect your idea. Legal counsel will be able to advise you on how to present your idea to potential partners without risking loss of the copyright.

Then I would have each person you speak to about the project to sign a non-compete (or whatever is advised by your attorney) before you reveal details.

You'll probably have to pitch the idea to different people and see if they are interested. But have them sign the document first. I would probably pitch the idea to the programmers/designers first to see if you can support. They will likely be able to tell you how viable the concept is. If they are excited to sign up, that's a good indication that your idea is good. If you get a lot of people passing on the offer to participate, you might not get very far.

Hope that helps and good luck to you!

Anthony,
Sounds like you and your friend have a solid idea and now need to run with it. I agree with Dennis, you will need to pitch your idea and need to protect it. Best of luck
