Some tips on marketing your site.

"Searching online you will find directories focused on your particular industry such as business coaching, accounting, retail, and such. You almost certainly belong to various trade associations that list member sites. Contact the Webmaster and ask for a link. You may get a link for free or you may be required to pay a fee, either way, it is worth it."

Is worth doing some serious promotion and then stopping for a break to see if it has any impact, and then trying a new angle.

Don't just do set and forget strategies.

You need to keep track of the promotions, ask your customers how they found you. Concentrate on the one that bring you the leads.

Post free local classified ad. usa,uk,can,aus,india.

Asking your customer for leads on how they find you is a great way of knowing how you can tap your market niche. Online and Offline promotion is a great combination in order to have better results in getting customers. However do not harass customers like some insurance business I know. It's really annoying.

In Offline marketing, it's best to do a face to face talk and to just treat them like a normal person and not like a commodity that you'll bend on your knees for them to get your service. Offer them some freebies, some in-depth advise.

In Online marketing, it's all the same but you post your message and readers just read it. What's good about this type is that your readers are just sitting whenever they want to sit and you, you write out what you want to get through their ears.

Tracking is the key. If you are doing offline promotions (direct mail or referral systems), every employee needs to be on board with helping the owner track ROI.

Using spread sheets to keep track of costs (how much the mailing cost, the response rate, cost per customer, transaction size, etc.) is one of the most import things you can do in your business. If you are tracking, you are guaranteed to throwing away money.

Some nice tips here, Linda. I just do not agree with the tip that "submitting a website to (whatever) directory" would be valuable. If the directory is niche-oriented - yes, a link from there would be VERY valuable. In fact, I would even use a paid link on such a directory. But if the directory is a generic one, the value of the link (especially after Panda) is close to 0.

It is valuable, even if it has no "link juice" per se.
If you pop up on a google search, even if it's a listing on their website, it still shows a potential customer that you exist and helps with name recognition.
