Default New Twist On Linking and Link Building

I've spent the last year working my butt off to promote my HOW TO GET SPONSORED FOR FISHING TOURNAMENTS manual (ebbok) available on my web site [url removed].

I've advertised with banners, exchanged links with other sites, written articles, given away free product, got a pro to endorse my book, listed on ebay, and the newest thing I've done.......................

Have others add my link in their signature.

I have probably a dozen or so fishermen/women that post on numerous fishing forums across the net that have a live link to my web site in their signature.

Imagine having someone with over 9,000 posts add your link instantly to their sig. It is way cool and provides for increased traffic. Now imagine doing it with a handful of people.

Most of these people are on what I call my Pro Staff. Pro in this case stands for Promotional. I have sponsored them with cash in exchange for promoting my site. Some did it for FREE.

It's a great idea and can help you get add'l traffic to your site in a hurry.

That sounds like a prett good idea. These links aren't affiliate links? You pay up front? I know a lot of forums don't allow affiliate links at all.

Nope, they're not affiliate links. They just post my site in their signature.

How do I pay? I've donated producted, and sent cash through Paypal (no mare than $50) to those that promote me.

In some cases I've asked - How much would you charge me to put my link in your signature on ALL the forums you post on? And the answer was - nothing.

I'm not saying it's bringing in boatloads of new business but I know this one thing - REPITITION BREED'S RECOGNITION.

creative approach - seems solid if the forums are on topic and it may add benefits of qualified traffic outside of the search ranking benefits - but i cringe to think of the potential for signature-link-exchange-abuse

that is a good idea. I hadn't thought about it, but it would make sense. How about getting blogs to link to your site? I would imagine that would drive a lot of hits to your website as well.

So which of those ideas actually lead into more sales?

Promotional products huh? That's my main gig too!!

As far as adding a link of mine in someone else's sig............I know for a fact that it has produced one sale for sure and obviuosly numerous advertising inpressions.

And we all know......................Repititon Breeds Recognition!! :thumbsup

Hi Scott,

I often wondered about the advantage of sigs in forums... Do you find that Google picks up more then one of these sigs per forum in your backlinks?
