Default Why Arent We #1?

After launching Briz.com in March 2008, our Google, Yahoo rankings have increased dramatically.

We even have a unique keyword: Briz

The site listed above us: Brizsongs.com

Brizsongs.com has a traffic rank of: 14,347,034

Briz.com has a traffic rank of: 415,268

Can someone please explain this?

Thanks,
The Briz Team

Nothing to explain really

I assume you are talking about Alexa traffic rank? It don't mean anything to the way sites rank, it is just a measure of popularity among Alexa toolbar users.

By the way, what is a 'briz' ?

Briz is a person, however, they don't use capitals.

I did a search for brizsongs and got number 1 position, so what is up? (in Google.com)

If you still ain't happy - try a blog entry.

Google places a page in a certain position based on keywords, traffic, popularity, links, time online, when domain expires, quality of web host and a bunch of other factors. If you want your page to be first analyse the site that first on google and make your better.

Ok I have taken a look and can see now that your site is a social networking site for businesses. You have lots to learn about marketing and SEO, the page cited above is a good starting point to learn, but you first need to get your head around your client search mentality. What are they going to be searching for?
I would imagine that a lot of your traffic will be coming from social networking itself, have you devised a strategy for that?

I would suggest the OP to go about building more targeted backlinks as they will help in marketing and in the SEO of his site as well. Try to partcipate more in business related forums and blogs.

I think we're both in a similar space, maybe we can exchange links.
