How To Estimate A Website Price
Just a question:
if someone would ask you to develop a website layout and design how much would it cost?
given: no membership
how would you price it if the client would add a registration for membership and forum?
and how much would it be for a website that has blogs, forums, login, and registration?
i am having trouble with estimations and what factors i am to consider if i am to price a website, or a custom software.

Spend some time thinking about the time required for each page, the specifications, materials, and most importantly make sure your price is competitive but not a loss for you. Do research and give them a price quote with information that lets the client know you spent time creating a price that is fair.

When it comes to web design, I think you charge an hourly rate based on the going rate for someone with your expertise and qualifications. Before going into business, it’s important to study your competition. Web design has become somewhat of a commodity with all the free and low cost templates available now, so make sure you bring uniqueness to your designs.

yes P.InD. i have noticed how you can just create a site within an hour or so now. however, if someone would like to have a website that can be optimized, well that is my aim.
there are many establishments in my place that have a need in promoting their business. good news for me is that my country does not outsource, as far as i know, and our IT community is not that big yet.

Never charge less than what you are worth! You cannot build a company based on lowest price (unless you are walmart)..... read this

In addition to taking into account the time that you believe it will take to create the website you also need to take into account the time that it will take to train the people that you have created the website for. You may spend 100 hours creating it but spend another 100 hours training and supporting them in the first month.

yes, i do agree. just like any project development, we have to take in to consideration the time and resources that we put in a project.
i guess, i would base my price estimations on how long it took me to finish the website and the resources i used (developers and cost)
i usually do the development but i do have coders i ask to do the actual site design as i am not so good at it. i am more into coding programs and supervising a development.
if you are wondering why i don't know how to do price estimations, it is because i am part of the developement team in our IT department, we don't price a system here for a client and though i have an idea, i want to know what are the usual quotations in the industry. i want to start this kind of business for my own so i am kinda fetching information to help me estblish what i want. no rush though...
