Question Help with forum linking

I see many people post links to articles etc in their forum messages. How do you do that? The linking function here in teh forum gives me that hinky [url] thing. Do you just use the <a href> coding?

Michele

Many forums, including this one, use something called "BBCode."

That's short for Bulletin Board Code.

It's not the same as html, but it is similar.

For me to show you BBCode, and what it looks like on this page, I should be able to wrap it in the Code tag (the one with a button that looks like a number sign or pound sign)

Without the code tags around it, here's what that example will look like:

Link text here

It looks like the code tags aren't working correctly. Let's see what happens when I add a space between characters:

Without the code tags around it, here's what that example will look like:

[u r l = h t t p : / / w w w . e x a m p l e . c o m ] L i n k t e x t h e r e [ / u r l ]

To make a link, you do something similar, but without all of the extra spaces.

Hi Michele,

Following up on what Bill said, you can find our vB code list with more instructions here:

http://www.smallbusinessbrief.com/fo....php?do=bbcode

The only forum vB code does not work in is the New Member Introductions forum. We disabled it there to discourage link droppers.

Whenever you feel that way, just have a look at my avatar over to the left.

As long as that's not you, you are still OK.
