Post Massive Ranking Fluctuations Reported, Is Penguin Update On The Way?

Last week, possibly on Friday, SEOs started voicing that Google is testing various ranking changes. That fueled the rumors of possible update. However, Google didn't respond in the favor, thus, we couldn't confirm the news that Penguin was officially released. Please find more details here : http://www.brainpulse.com/articles/s...on-the-way.php

What a coincidence! I was just reading about this about an hour ago.

Apparently, Google confirmed it was a core ranking algo update:

No, it is not penguin! Google stated many times that it was just a core update!
Also Google mentioned that Panda is now part of the core ranking system, so maybe that`s the reason we all have been seeing fluctuations in SERPS in the past couple of days.

Yes, there was a core update, but also Panda was baked inside the core algorithm. Google didn`t clearly stated if the fluctuations were Panda related or core algorithm related.
Also Google mentioned that the core algorithm update was a small one
