Hi Dolores, I haven't used legalzoom and i'm not an attorney. But I am part of an LLC in california that a partner of mine setup on his own. It took more than one trip to sacramento, an extended period of time cuz of the red tape and hoops, but when all was said and done it is reasonable for someone to setup their own llc in california. The question - is your time better spent doing it with someone like legalzoom for the costs. probably, i would be comfortable using them based on what I have heard from others.
If you are the diy type then go for it. You may need a sample of an LLC agreement. I provide one for free here - http://www.atyourbusiness.com/partnership-llc.php
You'll also need a profit sharing agreement, which you can find there too.
Hope that helps get you started in the right direction, and I'm glad you found us. Welcome aboard
