Default SEs love content..

I'm sure many of you have read the popular thread 'successful site with google alone' or something along those lines. My strategy is based on that.

I have my main index page which I would prefer to be the landing page for *most* visitors (assuming they're looking for what I offer). I have several keyword phrases that I want to be top 3 for.

Does google reward me for adding content (in the form of articles, not necessarily related to the main topic, but something semi-related, such as paying down credit cards) BECAUSE of the content, or because I have a footer at the bottom of each article that links back to the main page w/ appropriate keyword anchor text?

Does google just reward for the growing number of keyword rich links (in no way spam - not at all)

OR

Does google give preference to sites w/ lots of actual content over smaller site.

Site A has 100 pages of original content w/in realm of personal finance, some specific to excel budgeting, all w/ a footer point back to main page. The main page is targeted for three or four keyword phrases.

Site B has 10 pages of original content w/in realm of personal finance, some specific to excel budgeting, all w/ a footer point back to main page. The main page is targeted for three or four keyword phrases.

Will Site A do better for its targeted keyword phrases b/c of the content, links, both? Disregarding the extra in-house links, would site A and B be seen as equals regarding the SE placement?

Just some thoughts. Would love to hear everyone's opinions.

This is very similar to your other post here: http://www.smallbusinessbrief.com/fo...ead.php?t=1413.

Overall, stop worrying so much about all the tiny little details of what Google wants. Create a site that is beneficial to your visitors. That's what Google is most looking for... quality. It should always be visitors first, engines second.

After all, visitors are who buy your products, not search engines.

But what is their definition of quality?

Just kidding.

Thanks for the reminder.
