Default Back Links Are Really Necessary?

Hello members,

Do we need to have back links only from related sites or it can be from other sources...

I think it's advisable to have backlinks from site that have the same niche as your website for Google to index your site. Google frowns on links that are irrelevant and may cause your website to be penalized.

In my own experiences, all backlinks from any sources would help your SERP. Of course, those ones dofollowed and niche relative would be more helpful in PR, too.

Suppose you are running an apparel site and you are getting link back from website design sites. Now, what do you think the reaction of Google when its crawler discover that the majority of the links an apparel site are coming from website design site?? Simple, your website will fail to rank top.

Backlinks are important but you also need to focus on on page SEO as well.

Default Backlink Quality vs Quantity

Backlinks are one of several factors search engines use when determining your site's ranking. It may not be the single most important factor but a site without any backlinks will not return as high as a similar site with strong backlinks.

"Strong" backlinks are links to your site that are not only relevant to the content on your site but that come from sites that are themselves ranked highly on the key search terms related to your site's content. For example, if you have a site that sells widgets it would be great to have as many links back to your site from other sites that discuss, review or sell widgets. since you want quantity, you'll take links from Wally's Widget Blog and from a New York Times article about widgets that references your company but the NYT link will help rank your page higher than Wally's will.

My opinion would be to not waste your time trying to get huge quantities of weak backlinks and focus more on getting less, strong links. You can do this by writing articles and submitting them to sites like ezines.com or distributing online press releases, etc.

good luck!

yes backlinks are really very necessary for your site's pagerank and to get the traffic. in one topic i read that" backlinks act as blood for the site."
and it is true.there quantity should not more than 2-3. and should have good quality keyword as your backlinks. it should be unique and related to your site.
