Question My Site No Longer Censored In China?

Ever since I first created my site, it has not been able to be viewed in China. (not a big deal because 100% of my clients are outside of China) Since my web hosting uses geocities servers I was told that sites on these servers have been blocked from view in China. Recently I was looking at my web site stats and accidentally clicked on my site address. To my astonishment my site opened right up, and everything was working fine. For the past couple years I have had to use a proxy to view my site, of course when you use a proxy some components of the site cannot be viewed, things like adsense and some php components.

I wondered if my site has been reviewed and accepted by censors, or is a broad change in geocities servers policy in China. Does anyone else use geocities servers? If so give me a link so I can check this theory, or does anyone else have a different theory?

There have been rumors over the past couple of weeks (InformationWeek article) that the Great Firewall is having a little work done, perhaps in preparation for some sort of "key international meeting", although Chinese officials deny it. If in fact work is being done on the firewall, then probably whatever filter was blocking your site previously has been revised.

Perhaps you are the beneficiary of a little good fu?

Thank you very much for the link. I must say it was a pleasant suprise to see that I can finally open my site.

Call me crazy but I see signs of less and less censorship here in China, from internet to t.v. things are most certainly changing.

Actually, If you want to do business with Chinese clients or want to enter China market, I suggested that you should think about your web hosting in China directly or via Hong Kong web hosting. There are many IT companies which are offering this kind sof service in Hong Kong.
