Hello!

I have started a blog about original website ideas that could make money. The url the blog is badass-website-ideas.blogspot.com/. I would appreciate a lot if you guys could tell me about what do you think? Do you think these sites could be profitable?

Thanks in advance,
Mike

If you don't live in North Korea you must have heard of on-going space tourism. The current prices are something like 20 million dollars per trip. However, several other companies are rushing to markets, with prices only around 100 000 dollars. Although still painful price, there are thousands of people ready to pay it.

Just list them one after another, add some photos, a brief description, link to some other source and maybe rating possibility.

This is not and idea but a rule of thumb: most of the people who create websites are young male geeks (YMGs).

It is not that some of the sites couldn't possibly make money (SOME how), but I'm not sure anyone would take your blog or recommendations seriously.

Regarding the space tourism, the info you give is so general ("The current prices are something like 20 million dollars per trip") it sounds as though you have done little if no research into the industry. Considering the amount of money involved, some substantial facts & sources would be necessary.

Also, some of the advice you give, "Just list them one after another, add some photos, a brief description, link to some other source and maybe rating possibility" is simply wrong. So if someone were to follow your suggestions for this site I don't believe it would stand a chance of being profitable.

Regarding the "young male geeks" statement, I was just poking fun... get it!

OK, that makes your comments more understandable. I gotta say the first post sounded a little bit blunt, but this one is more like the detailed feedback I was hoping to get.

I agree with you about importance of source links and research. However I have decided to concentrate more on number of ideas than details. My attitude is that if someone gets interested he/she can make a little Googling by him/herself. For example, the prices of space toursim could be found at the introduction section of space travel Wikipedia page. But maybe I really try to add more source links on my posts, it doesn't take so much time after all.

I can't see how "Just list them one after another, add some photos, a brief description, link to some other source and maybe rating possibility" is simply wrong. There are several such lists that are highly entertaining to many people. I for example like very much many Wikipedia lists, even if they have rather sparse amount of information. After all, you can always click link that gives you more information. Many people have such a short attention span that a list you can view in less than one minute is just perfect for them. After that they might very well push "Digg" button.

At this moment I'm not sure either if anyone would take my blog or recommendations seriously. However, stats show large portion of visitors spend 15+ minutes on my site which I consider a good sign.

Sorry, I wasn't sure if you were serious at first.

I meant that this is bad SEO advice. I think if someone follows this plan their site will not receive any ranking, will not be found on search engines, and therefore won't be profitable. Could be entertaining, but you asked about profitability.

In any case, good luck. Sounds like you are having fun!
