Default Virtual Assistants - Have you ever used them?

A while back I read about hiring virtual assistants. I liked the idea and thought it was a good way to manage tedious and time taking tasks. Have any of you ever hired a virtual assistant for seo purposes, for something like Link Building or Keyword research etc.. Please share your views / experiences if any.

Rather than a "virtual" assistant, we've taken advantage of the closeness of a university, and hired interns.

The school has made it really easy for us to find and hire people, and the students appreciate the opportunity to earn a few dollars while in school.

We've used them mostly to do general office tasks such as filing, copying, running packages out to the post office or federal express office, and some other things.

If you have a college or university near you, and some deskspace for a student to work at, it's an option I'd suggest that you consider.

I've heard about virtual assistants, and I even communicated with one on another forum. She seemed pretty competent, and would probably be able to handle the tasks you mention with very little training. Based upon our conversations, I think if you find the right person to work with you as a virtual assistant, you'll probably do well.

I've done things like links and keyword research for some SEO firms before. It's worked well, but it has usually been with companies or people that I know and have developed a mutual trust beforehand. That way, there's less worry about compitence, risky practices,...

If I was to start outsourcing these things myself, I'd probably go that same route. Find someone that I either already know or develop enough trust with someone new to be confident.

I use a virtual assistant on a regular basis. It works out great for me. She submits my articles, does proofreading, answers emails while I'm out of town sometimes, does research... pretty much anything I am able to explain to her, she can do.
