Default Copywriting

There is too much to be said about copywriting, yet never enough that is concise and immediately useable.

If you want to have writing with results, here are some tips:

AIDA -- Stands for Attention, Interest, Desire and Action. Your copy must do all four if you want results (sales leads, ROI etc.).

KISS -- Stands for Keep it Simple Silly! Don't use commodious language.

Twisted -- Either your headline or your copy must be twisted, meaning don't see and say, or write copy that says the same thing your visual does. Think of the gread ads out there... they get your attention because they're twisted. (i.e. Coors ad headline "Ex-girlfriend cold".)

For more insight into copywritring/ advertising, I recommend the following:

Hitting the Sweet Spot (Fortini Cambell)-- Great book about insight into your customer/ client.
A Whack on the Side of The Head (Roger von Oech) -- A great way to make you start thinking something different. Being different is interesting.
On Writing (Steven King) -- A brilliant and easy read.
