Default Effective Link Acquiring Strategy

Move on from the social bookmarks, directories and all the worthless tactics you have learnt to build backlinks. They don't pass much authority as it stands and with time they might even get completely devalued.

There are strategies that can serve your purpose and actually help you in acquiring links which matter. I will share one strategy that I think might be worth it's weight in gold. I just came across it today and I am going to try it soon.

So, what happened was that while surfing the Web for a particular topic(I won't reveal that),
I came across an article which was ranking first. Naturally, I opened it and upon reading it found it to be severely outdated, providing littlet to no value. A quick check in Ahrefs revealed 500+ referring domains and over 1.7k backlinks.

Now, what I plan to do is write my version on the same topic which would be completely up-to-date and hopefully better. Then, I'll pitch the article to the same people who have linked to the outdated article. Even if I can attract 3-4% of the 500+ referring domains, I'll consider it a worthy investment.

P.S - I know this strategy must be somewhere on the net, the likes of Brian Dean, Jon Cooper or some expert might have shared this, I just wanted you guys to know this. Going to share this on other forums as well.

P.P.S if anyone needs SEO services, you can message me or visit the agency I work at -> SEO Discovery

Default Old article

Don't overlook the fact that the links you see may have been created by the author of the article themselves. That seems to be a good tactic, create good content, then build link juice to it so it performs as much as possible.

Pretty sure the links that I saw were built but through outreach. There were loads of authoritative sites that had linked it. It remains to be seen whether I can replicate it's success.

When you receive an email asking that you create a link to another person's website, do you do it? That's usually called spam. Just like your link in the original post will be removed.

Default Outreach is spam?

You can remove the link if it is against the guidelines, I apologize for that.
If I email someone telling them that they are linking out to an outdated resource and offer a better, up-to-date resource as a replacement, is that spam?
Anyway, I would like to know your link building strategies

Did they sign up for your email? Spam is unwanted email that people have not signed up for.

I'd like to see you test that. I'm pretty sure your flaw is in the 3-4% estimate. I don't know many email campaigns that get that response rate for a call to action like changing a link.

Have you looked at other forum threads about link building?

I wrote this thread a long time ago on link building

http://smallbusinessbrief.com/forum/...ad.php?t=15544

Maybe we should refine and improve on it together?

@Logan I do not agree that pitching a better version of an article is spam. This is kinda like the same argument where every link building efforts made can be counted under the black hat SEO side of things.

However, I do agree with you that the 3-4% I talked about could be a bit unrealistic. More like 0.5-1%. But as you pointed out the thread that you wrote.. they would be links that help me out with both my rankings and also send traffic. BTW I'm also a big fan of Eric Ward, RIP.

I am with you on refining your thread. A new guide would be lovely and valuable for newbies like me Message me

@jeffscott I don't want to do that buddy.. The content writers at my agency aren't really the fastest and I think this "project" could take a long time

The only way to know (for sure) is to test, test, test. I've speculated before many times and been wrong. That's why testing is best.

Yes, Eric was one of the good guys. Years ago, I had the pleasure of being a speaker with him on the same panel at a conference.

If you are interested in contributing, I'll be happy to help along. I'll be in touch next week, as I am in the process of retooling things and it is good timing.
