Default PR Release And SEO ... Where To Publish First?

I am interested in hearing an opinion from other SEO folks here.

If you have a Press release you want to put out with hopes that it will be mentioned on other news websites etc (not necessarily republished) ... for SEO benefit, would you first put it on the company website to be crawled and only then submit to PRWeb or not?

You see if it was just content, then yes, common sense it to have your content appear on your site first ... but this is a PR release. I want to hear your opinion.

Note .... article has links pointing back to the company's site. If we don't put it on our site, SEs might give more weight to the link thinking that it's an editorial about the company and not "pushed" by the company. Your thoughts?

The press release is a tool used to alert the public about something newsworthy on your site.

New content, changes, updates, etc.

With that bit out of the way, I personally wouldn't care if the release got indexed form my site first or not.

I would care that it was designed well enough to get attention from the media and passed around or talked about.

Sure, I'd put it up on my site, but IT is not the content that makes up the site the users are coming to view. IT is just a tool, not the project.

Pr would be used to promote any updates and changes to your product or site. I would focus mainly on submitting them to PR sites. For your website, you can just add a little note of attention maybe about the promotion of your released PR.

I would not submit it to your site first. I would either submit it to my site OR to PRWeb. You would just be creating duplicate content which is no good. Also, when submitting your press release, you should have fresh, unique content. Don't forget to have your keywords in your anchor text. Good luck.

I go with what the others are saying. Duplicated content is a no-no. PR are just promotional and they don't really add to the amin content of the site. They just tell the audience of your new products and changes. It also comes with a reference to your site.
